Week 16 Ravens vs. Chargers Breakdown

ussportsbookodds

One of the best games of the NFL season takes place on Saturday night in week 16, as the Baltimore Ravens and their elite defense takes on a Los Angeles Chargers team that can put up points. Both teams are riding waves of momentum as they are both in position to make the playoffs, but only one team will be able to keep that momentum going, as we take a look at the odds for this clash of AFC titans from DraftKings Sportsbook.

Ravens vs. Chargers Odds

At DraftKings Sportsbook, the Chargers come into their key week 16 showdown with the Baltimore Ravens as a 4.5 point favorite. On the moneyline, the Ravens check in as the underdog at +180, while the Chargers are a -225 favorite straight up. The total sits at 45, as the stingy Ravens defense and high-powered Chargers offense leave the total in an interesting spot, with where the game lands almost certain to determine the outcome of the game as well.

Ravens vs. Chargers Straight Up

Straight up this season, the Los Angeles Chargers have gone 11-3 on the season, while the Ravens have gone 8-6 on the year. The Chargers have won four games in a row, while the Ravens’ week 15 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got them back on the winning track after their overtime loss to the Chiefs the week before.

Ravens vs. Chargers Against The Spread

Against the spread, both teams have gone close to .500 on the year. The Ravens are a 7-7 team against the spread on the season, while the Chargers are 8-6 against the spread for the year. The Chargers would have been 7-7 against the spread for the year if they didn’t stage their miracle comeback over the Chiefs in week 15, where they trailed by two possessions twice before coming back to win in the final seconds.

Ravens vs. Chargers Injury Report

The Ravens are one of the healthiest teams in the NFL as of right now, without many players on the injury report at all. Backup quarterback Robert Griffin III is day-to-day, along with running back Ty Montgomery. And tight end Nick Boyle suffered a concussion against the Buccaneers, and his status will be up in the air on a short week.

The Chargers, meanwhile, suffered a season ending injury with cornerback Trevor Williams, who injured his knee. They are also still dealing with a day-to-day Melvin Gordon at running back and a questionable Keenan Allen who suffered a hip pointer against the Chiefs.

Ravens vs. Chargers Home/Road Splits

The Ravens have thrown six interceptions on the road this season compared to three at home, which could be a huge factor with an inexperienced quarterback taking on an elite pass rush. They also average 0.3 fewer yards per carry on the road and have five fewer rushing touchdowns than they do in home games.

Los Angeles has been just slightly better at home than they’ve been on the road with their aerial attack. Philip Rivers has about a four percent boost in completion percentage at home and one more touchdown pass at home than he has on the road. He’s thrown four interceptions both home and away on the year. But the Chargers have actually been better running the football on the road this year, averaging 5.5 yards per carry on the road compared to 4.1 yards per carry at home. They haven’t lost a fumble running the ball at home on the season, though.

Ravens vs. Chargers Motivation Report

Both teams are currently in playoff positions, but as wild card teams. Expect both sides to be fully motivated in this game with division titles still up for grabs for everyone involved.
